The purpose of this paper is to provide a vulnerability management assessment for ABC business premise of the company ABC. This paper argues that while risk causes harm to lives and property in a business, vulnerability is what makes the impact of such a risk to become extremely devastating or magnified.
It has been established through research that, at times, risks or accidents might occur but without much impact on living or non-living things. This is to argue that the accident, for example, fails to get the attention of the population settlements it was intended to harm. For example, when a bomb explodes, the expectation is that it should harm most people in the building where it has exploded if not all of them. However, when the building is bomb-proof, and well-built, its inhabitants will not even realize the that the bomb exploded. In other words, they will not feel the impact of the bomb. This can only happen when people and things are not vulnerable. A system’s vulnerability can be related to the physical and social as well as economic aspects that it has.
Therefore, the paper covers the reasons why vulnerability assessment must be conducted in the business premise, components of vulnerability assessment tool specific to this case and the steps that can be taken to mitigate the identified vulnerabilities.

- Developing mitigation strategies for identified vulnerabilities
- The role of vulnerability assessment in mitigating the impact of potential disasters
Zusammenfassung der Kapitel (Chapter Summaries)
- Introduction: This chapter introduces the concept of vulnerability in relation to risk assessment and explains how vulnerability amplifies the impact of hazards. It also defines vulnerability as a function of a system's characteristics, exposure, and sensitivity to harm.
- Purpose of the Paper: This chapter outlines the paper's objective, which is to conduct a vulnerability assessment for ABC business premises, focusing on the reasons for the assessment and the importance of vulnerability management in minimizing the impact of potential risks.
- Discussion on the Site Selection and the Rationale for the Site Selected: This chapter discusses the specific characteristics of ABC business premises, including its location, building features, and potential hazards, providing the context for the vulnerability assessment.
- Components of Vulnerability Assessment Tool: This chapter defines and explains the key components of vulnerability assessment, including hazards, exposure, and sensitivity to harm, providing a theoretical framework for the assessment.
- Hazards: This section discusses the concept of hazards in the context of vulnerability assessment, highlighting how even seemingly minor hazards can potentially cause significant harm if vulnerabilities exist.
- Exposure: This section delves into the concept of exposure, which refers to the degree to which a system is subject to a particular hazard. It discusses the impact of exposure on the magnitude of harm caused by a risk event.
- Sensitivity to harm: This section explores the concept of sensitivity to harm, which refers to the system's susceptibility to the effects of a hazard. It explains how different levels of sensitivity can significantly influence the overall impact of a risk.
