According to instructor feedback: This is an excellent essay offering a sustained discussion of the different approaches to grammar instruction. The essay starts well with useful definitions and a lucid discussion of PPP and TBL and Lexical Approach, that is accompanied by specific classroom examples. The critique of each of the methods is one of the most successful moments in the essay. There is confidence when dealing with newer approaches e.g. Lexical Approach, where the discussion is clear and sustained with good research and classroom examples analysed.

The PPP procedure

One micro-strategy of paramount importance is the PPP procedure. The PPP procedure is one of the first teaching procedures developed and is linked to the situational language teaching at the time when the situational language teaching, an approach where the students are exposed to a context where the appearance and production of targeted language will occur naturally(Thornburry,2017) was evolving to the Communicative Language Teaching approach, which supports that languae learning can only occur whitin a natural communicative context and it is a threefold procedure carried out through the course of three stages.(Anderson, 2017) The PPP procedure involves the presentation stage, a process where the teacher presents the students with a context and target language input, the practice stage, a process where the students have the chance to utilize the input collected and receive feedback concerning their strengths and weaknesses and finally the production stage, where the retainage of the linguistic items is attested by more practical tasks, which are closer to real life communication. (Richards and Burns, 2012)
