4.2. How green screen filming works
The green screen production process is made up of three elements: the foreground subject (usually the actor), the green screen background and the target background where the subject is composited into. The background is green because it has the highest luminance value of the tree signal colours red, green and blue. Green also is easier to light with artificial light and requires less light it completely, which is leading to less production costs. It conflict less than blue with the subjects skin tone, clothing or eye colour. When the subject in the foreground is wearing green clothing or anything else in green is in the subject a blue screen would be more suitable (cf. Foster: 17ff).
