The only ingredient that makes the world go round is trust. When it is lacking in a home, the home suffers and when it is absent in the community, it results into survival of the fittest with all the negative consequences for the society to deal with.
It is submitted that it is better to talk over it than to fight over it. Sometimes giving your path to the dog may be better than be bitten by the dog.

Excerpt from the Book
LEADERSHIP THAT DEVELOPS TRUST
There are numbers of theories that are relevant to leadership. For the purpose of this write up, I shall focus on Theory X & Y. Theory X portrays human beings as lazy and do not want to work and needed to be effectively monitored and policed around. On other hand, theory Y believes that man is inherently born active and hard working. This later theory allows room for initiative, creativity and erring on the side of mercy.
The obvious implication is that where leadership is reduced to master and servant relationship there would be large control without trust. People would allow the leader to do everything for fear of the unknown. Such environment would be endowed with suspicious staff and management. In one of my research on the impact of motivation on staff, I found out that leadership that exhibits the trait of theory X performed far below expectation because majority of staff are usually de-motivated and the staff turnover is very high.
For leadership to develop trust, such leaders must understand that there are many ways to arrive at a destination. He/she must not be rigid by default but address issue with clarity and consistent approach. He must adopt theory Y approach to leadership. This may be achieved by a supervised – delegation approach. This essential connotes that staff are given responsibility that are appropriate for their level of duty or position or education.
Managers that embrace theory Y tend to create the enabling environment for trust by open communication with the employees. This will propel employees to use their capability and competence to the advantage of the company.
