ABSTRACT
The paper deals about the following points in detail.
The first part of the paper starts with the role of a teacher and importance in the society. Then the paper deals about the objectives of Teacher Development. It starts with the definition, what is Teacher development. Further the researcher talks about, How to identify the challenges involved in teacher development. Few examples are such as time, money and support.
The second part of the paper starts with the note how to concentrate on Teaching as a teacher. Further the paper also deals about the different ways of developing an individual as teacher such attending seminars, presenting papers, writing articles and books and etc. I t also talks about how one can develop himself / herself formally and informally.
Third part of the paper deals about what are the possible steps one can take to improve himself/ herself as a teacher. In this part the presenter would like to bring the attention of every teacher by asking few questions such as who are you. It also deals about how an individual can improve his standard by Self-directed Teaching development. In Conclusion, presenter suggests how an individual can improve to become an effective teacher.

Ways and means

One can develop himself or herself through the following ways. First it is through a colleague – A colleague who works with you can definitely help you in terms of all the aspects of teaching. He/she can definitely find your weakness all through your teaching and suggest you the ways to change them. Second is reading. Starting from the academic reading to all kinds of reading books will also bring focus. It enriches ones knowledge about the important aspect of a particular subject. Third is attending conferences and refresher courses. Through attending conferences a teacher can meet people from different walks of life, for example age, sex, discipline, qualification etc. Fourth is our own student. They are the pivot of success for many teachers because today’s students are really clever and knowledgeable too.

The following are the different means- A) attending seminars, conferences and workshops. B) Writing articles and publishing books C) Adding qualifications by attending new courses D) Motivating to do Internal training E) Learning another language F) Taking conscious effort on Action research G) Doing Peer observation H) Participating in Teacher development discussion groups or group discussions I) Learning from Teaching journals J) Development in gatherings K) Finding a Critic friend and learning partner L) Discussing Critical events and M) Preparing Lesson plans.
