Der erste Teil beschäftigt sich weitestgehend mit dem konkreten Begriff der Waldeinsamkeit. Im Verlauf dieses ersten Kapitels wird in erster Linie der Wald als Gefängnis und als transitorischer Ort, gefolgt von einem Sehnen nach einer Einsamkeit, die mit dem Wald einhergeht, beleuchtet. Der zweite Teil der Arbeit befasst sich wiederum mit der realen Wald Dystopie, die der imaginären Wald Utopie gegenübergestellt wird. Des Weiteren werden, anhand der Gegenüberstellung, die Entwicklungen der Protagonisten analysiert. Der nachfolgende dritte und somit abschließend letzte Teil meiner Arbeit behandelt die stilistischen Mittel und erläutert, wie diese das Motiv des Waldes in Tiecks Novelle festigen. In diesem Zusammenhang wird zudem Bezug zu Tiecks Spätwerk genommen und diskutiert, ob Tiecks letzte Novelle unter Einfluss, der an seinem Lebensende stehenden Epoche des Realismus, steht. Die Ausformulierung der Ergebnisse mit einem allgemeinen Fazit unter Bezug des Autors, bilden ein zusammenfassendes Ende der Arbeit.
