Excerpt from the Book

6 Politics and Lobbyism

The American arm industry makes lots of donations to the NRA, which is one of the biggest and important organisations which deal with politics and lobbyism. They are supported by mainly two departments. One the one hand the NRA have the Institute for Legislative Action (ILA). This organisation tries to protect the Second Amendment. Additionally they collect all donations made from citizens and partners such as Smith & Wesson. As well the ILA wants the right to bear arms stay as it is, by employing up 80 Lobbyists, who work for this aim. Obviously there are different types of donations given to politicians. On the one hand a donation up to 5000 Dollars can be given to a politician directly. These kind of donations are regulated by the Federal Elections Commission (FEC). One the other Hand donations can be given not directly to the politician but to the party such as the Republicans or the Democrats. These donations are not regulated in any way and can be as high as the donator wants. Furthermore, no information about the donations must be given out to the publicity. According to these information this method seems to be much more effective for the lobbyists because of the bigger amounts which can be donated.
