As the world approached the year 2012, controversy theorists made significant impacts on what people would expect, among them was the end of the world as humanity has known it. The actual event that will erase life from the planet remained a subject of debate; to same an asteroid would strike the earth while others proposed ideas of mystical proportions. As 21/12/2012 came closer, humanity was prepared for what it might bring with it. To people’s surprise, the day passed like any other with no noticeable uniqueness.

Although the Mayan calendar ended, its prediction of the end of the world did not become physically accurate. However, a new understanding of the year 2012 begun to surface. In the book “Fractal Time: The Secret of 2012 and a New World Age”, Braden Gregg comes up with a reasoning that the old world ended and a new world started, not in the physical form of ending, but in form time.

Objectives and Topics

The primary objective of this work is to explore Gregg Braden's theory of "Fractal Time" and its interpretation of the year 2012, aiming to bridge the gap between ancient Mayan cosmological beliefs and contemporary scientific perspectives on cyclic history.

  • The concept of cyclic time and its impact on human history
  • Integration of theological beliefs with scientific and mathematical models
  • The significance of 2012 as a "Choice Point" for humanity
  • Analysis of the Mayan calendar and its misinterpretations regarding the end of the world
  • Application of mathematical ratios, such as the Golden Ratio, to human patterns

Excerpt from the Book

Fractal time algorithm and the choice point

Much of Braden understanding comes from his mathematical curiosities, interpretation of the ancient cultures and wisdom of the cosmos, new dimension of Christianity couples with spiritual relations people have with the universe. He begins by seeing time as a cyclic system with patches that offer chances to change the current course; these are the “choice points” (Braden, 2009). At these points, it is possible for change to occur in the cycle, the nature of the deviation from routine can have positive or negative implication on the next cycle. It is within human power to decision as an individual or society at these choice points.

Braden background of computer design allows him to come up with a system of the algorithm to define the properties of the fractal time; he calls it “The Time Code” (Braden, 2009). The number “phi’ forms the central point of this code. The value is an ancient mathematical invention of the Greeks and is often referred to as the Gold Ratio, a proportionality that allows the cycle of the event to be expansive than the former (Braden, 2009). The application Fractal mathematics and Fibonacci Sequence add authenticity to the time, the mathematical ratios used in the algorithm appear in nature and define the appearance of patterns found all over the cosmos.

Human intelligence comes from the identification of patterns that repeats themselves. Like numerology, this values repetition is best understood when values are assigned to them (Braden, 2009). Astronomical information is derived from the observations of the universe from its formation to its current state. The same applied to the time code, fractal time is a product of identifiable patterns that relates to people’s lives. Braden uses the natural mathematical proportions to sign values to these time sequence. The value of 5125 years assigned as the accurate span of the circle, therefore, is an intelligence gained from observation of patterns in the cosmos. The Mayans printed this concept in their calendar leading to the identification of 2012 as a year of change. Braden designed a Time Cade calculator that people can apply to predict repeating patterns in their lives and the duration it takes before a similar event occurs.

Summary of Chapters

Introduction: This chapter introduces the societal context of the year 2012 and presents Braden's perspective on time as a repeating, cyclic phenomenon rather than a linear countdown to physical destruction.

Theology and Science Concepts intermarry: This section explores how Braden attempts to unify spiritual beliefs with scientific models to explain that cosmic events are mirror reflections of past cycles.

2012; the birth of a new World Time: This chapter analyzes various global beliefs surrounding 2012 and explains the shift from a fear of apocalypse to the concept of a new world age defined by changing ideologies.

Fractal time algorithm and the choice point: This section details the mathematical foundation of Braden's theory, including the "Time Code" and the importance of individual "choice points" in influencing future cycles.

Physical nature of December 21, 2012: This chapter examines the astronomical and solstice-based significance of the date, relating Earth's position in the galaxy to potential impacts on biodiversity and historical events.

Spiritual and emotional understanding of the winter solstice of 2012: This chapter discusses the connection between celestial movements and the human collective emotional or spiritual state.

Conclusion: The final chapter summarizes the cyclical nature of existence and reinforces the idea that understanding these patterns allows humanity to navigate future transitions more effectively.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the core focus of this work?

The work examines Gregg Braden’s "Fractal Time" theory, which proposes that history operates in repeating cycles rather than a linear progression, using this framework to re-evaluate the significance of the year 2012.

What are the primary themes discussed?

The main themes include the convergence of theology and science, the interpretation of ancient Mayan calendars, the mathematical basis of cyclic time, and the human capacity to influence future outcomes.

What is the ultimate goal of the research presented?

The goal is to demonstrate that the events surrounding 2012 were not an end to the world, but a transition into a new cycle, providing humanity with a "choice point" to alter its future path.

Which scientific methodologies are utilized in this analysis?

The analysis relies on mathematical concepts such as the Fibonacci Sequence and the Golden Ratio ("phi"), as well as astronomical observations regarding Earth's position within the galaxy.

What does the main body of the work cover?

The main body covers the theoretical framework of fractal time, the distinction between apocalyptic predictions and cyclical changes, and the specific application of these concepts to 2012.

How would you describe this work using keywords?

Key terms include Fractal Time, 2012, Mayan Calendar, Choice Point, Time Code, Golden Ratio, and Cyclic History.

How does Braden define a "Choice Point"?

A "Choice Point" is a specific interval within a fractal time cycle where human actions can create a meaningful deviation, allowing individuals or societies to shape the quality of the subsequent cycle.

What role does the Mayan calendar play in the book?

The Mayan calendar serves as a foundational historical observation of these cycles, which Braden interprets as a sophisticated system for tracking cosmic "World Ages" rather than a simple prediction of physical extinction.

Does the book predict an end to humanity?

No, the book explicitly refutes the idea of a physical end to the world, instead arguing that cyclical "ends" represent the birth of a new age or a shift in collective human consciousness.
