This is a report on one of the most famous organizations of the the United Nations; United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund or UNICEF for short.

The United Nations Children fund is authorized by the United Nations to promote and protect the rights of children as directed by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. The organization aims to accomplish a world where the rights of all children; irrespective of nationality, social status, geographical location or political affiliation are protected and preserved. UNICEF also intends to mobilize governments and non-government institutions towards the cause, in order to broaden the scope of child rights.

Initiation and working in Pakistan:

Since Pakistan is a member nations of the United Nations, UNICEF began its work in Pakistan shortly after Pakistan’s enrollment in the United Nations. Since, the country came in to being with a number of territorial and political disputes son after its creation United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund came into action with country specific projects to aid the children in need. UNICEF Pakistan, is an official country office of UNICEF which deals with UNICEF’s projects and workings in Pakistan. The organization works with the Ministry of Social Welfare and Special Education, Government of Pakistan, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Provincial Social Welfare Departments, NGOs, and other UN agencies to protect children from abuse, exploitation, violence, and discrimination.

The basic areas of work of UNICEF Pakistan include birth registration, child health, and decrease in child deaths, education, polio and access to clean water. UNICEF is working with the Government of Pakistan and some provincial governments on projects aimed to provide health services to depressed children and women all over the country. These projects include the setting up of marital and child clinics in far off villages. Additionally, volunteer doctors from UNICEF travel to various parts of the country setting up free health services to those who do not access to hospitals. Furthermore, the organization distributes medicines and vaccines all around the country. Also, UNICEF provides specially packaged food products and health care to children and women suffering from malnutrition.
