Due to the dynamics of customers’ needs, competition among different organization is ever growing. Consequently, organizations are coming up with strategies of sharpening their competitive advantage. Many of these strategies are either geared towards minimizing the cost of production, maximizing the net profit, minimizing the customers waiting time or even improving the quality of products produced. Product differentiation and integration are some of the ways many organizations have been using to meet their organizational goals.
Amazon, a multinational corporation dealing with e-commerce is one of the organizations facing hard times due to global competition. As a result, it wants to venture into making dehumidifiers so as to boost its cash-flows in the positive direction. This assignment is all about a business plan developed to determine the viability of venturing into making dehumidifiers.
A dehumidifier is a device that reduces the amount of humidity in the air. By doing so, it reduces the chances of survival of moths, cockroaches, termites and fleas. Thus, it helps a lot in preventing the diseases that can be transmitted by these pests. Previous studies have shown that by use of a dehumidifier, the chances of transmission of diseases are reduced by 75%. Another advantage of a dehumidifier is that it increases conformability by reducing sweating.

Objectives and Topics
This business plan evaluates the financial and strategic viability of Amazon entering the dehumidifier manufacturing market. The primary objective is to determine whether the company can leverage its existing e-commerce scale to successfully introduce a high-quality, energy-efficient dehumidifier line to mitigate global competition and diversify revenue streams.
- Strategic analysis of market entry and competitive positioning.
- Technical design specifications and product innovation features.
- Comprehensive financial forecasting, including break-even and cash flow analysis.
- Marketing strategies, including segmentation, pricing, and distribution channels.
- Risk management and project planning for the inception phase.
Excerpt from the book
The process of dehumidification
Pure air is a mixture of moisture and moisturized air. To make the air conducive in a living room, the moisture should be removed from the air. The process by which moisture is removed from air is known as dehumidification while the equipment that removes moisture from air is called a dehumidifier. This is achieved by varying the temperature and the humidity.
The proposed dehumidifiers will operate on the adsorption principle. In this case, humidity-absorbing material, usually called desiccant will be used because it is suited for applications requiring the removal of moisture in the air at low temperature and low humidity levels (Lavan & Jean-Baptiste Monnier, 1983). This desiccant will be impregnated on to a ceramic material to form a wheel. Depending on the size and capacity of the dehumidifier, the wheel will have an angular velocity of between 6 and 10 RPM.
In operation, air passes through the flutes of the wheel, giving off its moisture to the desiccant. The desiccant material absorbs humidity from the air. As a result, the air leaving the wheel is dry. The humidity-laden wheel then rotates to another stream of air that is heated. The heated air heats up the desiccant, which gives off its moisture.
