The following report analyses the different behavioural aspects and root causes, which are hampering the efficiency of the organisation. The different issues which have become part of the organisation and the different aspects of the organisation which drives these issues are identified. It also analyses the problems which may arise due to the changes, which will be required to be made in order to increase the efficiency of the organisation. The report makes recommendations by which the change process can be made conducive and easier for different employees of the organisation. The report is divided into two major parts, first identifies the problems and the possible solution, and the second gives recommendations on the ways in which the change can be implemented in an effective manner.
The major aspect of the organisation which has lead to it becoming an inefficient health service organisation is behavioural in nature. The hierarchical aspect of the organisation as well as the large gap between different educational qualifications required to run the hospital has lead to lack of respect among the employees for each other’s work. This has further lead to lack of accountability and work ethics. The lack of trust and respect among the employees are the key driving factors. The quality of the overall work depends upon the seriousness with which an individual takes his responsibility and understands the role played by him. This report intends to identify the various areas in which the organisation is lacking, the causes behind it, and the ways in which it can be rectified.

Excerpt from the Book

Analysis of Root Causes and Behavioural Aspects

Major behavioural issues within the organisation are:

Lack of Trust and Respect: The health organisation is a mixed organisation. The organisation comprises of large employees who have an extremely varied educational background and responsibility. This makes it difficult for the employees to respect each other’s work and the effect made by them in the running of the organisation. The effect is much more than any other corporate firm such as law, investment, engineering, etc. because the difference is much more and Medical profession in general is found to be exclusive of other professions. Nonetheless, this leads to lack of effective management of the resources and process flow in the organisation. If one level of the organisation doesn’t respect and trust the other level or department of the organisation then it is very difficult for the whole process to be efficient enough.

Lack of Work Ethics: The organisation being a health organisation and that too being apart of NHS playa a role in the lack of work ethics among the employees. Another reason is the variety of departments which are inherently different from one another. The employees due to not being able to understand each other’s importance are not able to define the importance of their own work. This leads them down to inefficient work ethics. The overall hierarchical nature is also detrimental as it leads to employee passing out their inefficient work to the next level.

Lack of Accountability: the employees are inherently ignorant or tend to ignore the costs involved in the steps taken by them. The organisation on a whole cannot be effective in management and making the process efficient if the employees do not feel accountable for their actions. The employee at all levels need to understand the costs involved in the work performed by them, the increase in cost which takes place due to their lack of accountability, and the effect on the overall organisation (Hunter, 1992). This is primarily due to it being a multi level organisation, being a health organisation which is a part of NHS, and the varied nature of the different levels of the organisation (Bassett, 2012).
