Procurement planning is the process of determining the goods, services and works acquisition required for accomplishment of the project scope from the outside of the organization. It is the process of selecting the procurement approach and documenting the whole execution strategy of the project. As we had discussed in the previous sections there are number of different inputs within the process, among these inputs are the project scope activities, the project activity definitions, the project schedule, the activity resource requirements, the project budget and cost performance baseline, the activity risk register, the project requirement documentation , the environment enterprise factors, the organizational process assets. These inputs are processed through a number of tools and techniques that are the expert judgment, buy or make, and contract types. The major intended output forms the process are project procurement plan, project procurement document, project statement of work, and criteria for contractor selection.
