The construction industry plays an important role in the development of countries however, statistics show that the industry encounters approximately 60,000 fatal accidents in their line ofnwork. These accidents are attributed to non-existent or unenforceable regulations. Therefore, thisnresearch aims to examine the occurrence of accidents at construction sites in Ayawaso West. Mixed research method was adopted for this study. The intended population comprised of workers
at the construction sites within the Ayawaso West Municipality, Accra. The study employed purposive sampling techniques, while data collection was executed through interview and a questionnaire-based survey. Data obtained from this study was analyzed by mean score rankings and percentages. The study conclusions highlight the availability and safety of construction
technology was assessed, highlighting concerns such as inadequate protective equipment, damaged machinery, and unsafe operating practices. Additionally, the effectiveness of safety measures are explored, with a correlation observed between adherence to safety protocols and reduced accidents. Furthermore, investigating the long-term cost impact of safety measures and exploring regular training sessions on construction safety, emergency procedures, and the proper use of safety equipment should be conducted for all workers on construction sites. Again, the Ghanaian government should examine and update construction safety codes, and ensure their effective administration and execution.

Zusammenfassung der Kapitel (Chapter Summaries)
CHAPTER ONE: INTRODUCTION: This chapter sets the stage for the research by providing background information on the high number of fatal accidents in the construction industry globally and specifically highlighting the problem within the Ayawaso West Municipality of Accra. It clearly defines the research aim, objectives, and questions, outlining the methodology (mixed methods approach using interviews and questionnaires) and the scope of the study. The chapter also details the significance of the research and its intended contribution to improving construction safety in the region, emphasizing the need for better enforcement of regulations and improved worker training. The chapter concludes with a brief overview of the study's organization.
CHAPTER TWO: LITERATURE REVIEW: This chapter comprehensively explores the existing body of knowledge related to safety management in the construction industry. It begins with a conceptual review of safety management and its practices, providing a theoretical foundation for the study. The empirical review delves into previous research on the effectiveness of safety regulations and measures employed at different stages of construction projects. It analyzes the contributions of governmental agencies toward construction site safety, and critically examines the existing literature around risk assessment and its application in the construction field. This chapter culminates in the presentation of a conceptual framework that guides the research.
