Undeniable, the issue of climate change has captured significant attention and urgency on a global scale. As a consequence, severe changes and rather unpredictable weather patterns can already be observed around the globe. Furthermore, with a rising sea level, humanity faces even more difficulties in the future. Consequently, human lives, communities, and there infra-structure are at growing risk. In light of these challenges outlined, this essay examines the topic of flood-resilient landscapes and how to hedge the risk through landscape infrastructure.
Yet, before delving deeper into the main subject, this essay starts to deliver an awareness regarding the following content, for instance, by using statistical data. On top of that, it aims to analyse two case-studies related to the topic. Preceding that, this essay briefly sheds light on Landscape and Water Infrastructure, a part of its evolution, and how it affect the issue of the chosen topic. Furthermore, just before analysing the two case studies, there is one subchapter which examines a few basics of Flood and Stormwater Management. Subsequently, after an-alysing the case studies, this essay will end up with a intention of raising the awareness of the topic ones more.

Zusammenfassung der Kapitel (Chapter Summaries)
Introduction: This chapter establishes the context of the essay by highlighting the urgency of climate change and its impact on increasing flood risks globally. It uses statistical data to demonstrate the rising global temperatures, sea levels, and frequency of flood-related disasters since 2000. The chapter emphasizes the devastating consequences of floods and introduces the essay's focus on examining flood-resilient landscapes and the role of landscape infrastructure in mitigating risks. The rising number of flood-related disasters since 2000, a 134% increase, is presented as a compelling reason for studying alternative approaches to flood management.
Landscape & Water Infrastructure: This chapter delves into the concepts of landscape and water infrastructure and their role in addressing flood risks. It explores the evolution of these systems and how they contribute to or mitigate flooding. The chapter likely covers different types of infrastructure, their effectiveness, and their limitations, setting the stage for the case study analysis in the subsequent section. This section would provide a theoretical foundation for understanding how landscapes can be designed and managed to reduce flood risks.
Flood & Stormwater Management: This section focuses on the basics of flood and stormwater management. It will likely cover various strategies, techniques, and best practices used to manage floodwaters and stormwater runoff in urban areas. The content would likely delve into the principles behind effective flood management and lay the groundwork for understanding the approaches adopted in the case studies. The section might contrast different approaches, including traditional "grey" infrastructure and emerging "green" infrastructure solutions.
Case Studies: This chapter presents in-depth analyses of case studies from New York City, USA, and Auckland, New Zealand, showcasing different approaches to flood management. The summaries of these case studies would highlight the specific strategies implemented, their effectiveness, their challenges, and the overall lessons learned from each example. The section might compare and contrast the approaches taken in these two diverse geographical locations and analyze the factors that contributed to their success or failure. The comparisons would illuminate the various factors impacting effective flood management strategies.
