This essay describes two types of business environments and environmental uncertainty and takes Apple Inc. as an example to explore the specifics of managing environmental uncertainty in companies with adaptive cultures.
Organizations survive and thrive in the business environment, interacting with both the external environments and internal environments. These two environments exist objectively, and the number of elements and changes in it are not fixed, that is the degree of environmental uncertainty is sometimes high and sometimes low. However, they have tended to be complex in terms of global conditions. The economic recession that began in 2008 has caused turmoil in the global business environment, and the recent global outbreak of the Covid-19 has brought a wave of economic downturns. In such a complex and changing environment, organizations face many challenges, such as analyzing external environmental trends, aligning internal resources, and creating an adaptive organizational culture suitable for facing uncertainty.
