African countries need increased investment to support poverty alleviation and infrastructure development. With high dependence on land and forest resource for subsistence, there is also a growing threat of widespread natural resource degradation. Accordingly, efforts to mitigate climate change through carbon sequestration projects can bring in money both to regenerate natural resource and raise local incomes.However, little is known about the status of existing carbon sequestration projects in Africa.
