The aim of this project is to develop a tutoring platform for Hausa students in grades 4 to 6, providing them with audio, video and text output in Hausa Language together with mentoring sessions and access to previous SSCE and jamb past questions.
The platform will also achieve the following sets of objectives: To study the existing literature on E-Learning System, to develop an E-Learning System (web-based) for online tutoring and mentoring and to test the software for its applicability and performance. This system is significant to teachers, parents and students. To teachers, this system would serve as an additional tutoring and mentoring platform for extra lessons after school hours. To parents, this system would suffice to spending more money on hiring a tutor for extra-lessons at home. To students, this system would hasten and increase their level of understanding and curiosity and provide them with relevant resource materials suchas past questions.

Objectives and Key Themes
The main objective of this project is to develop a web-based tutoring platform in Hausa, catering to senior secondary school students. This platform aims to address the challenges faced by students learning in a language other than their mother tongue, focusing on improving understanding and providing supplemental learning resources. The platform will integrate audio, video, and text content, mentoring sessions, and access to past examination questions.
- The impact of mother tongue instruction on learning.
- The design and development of a Hausa language e-learning platform.
- The effectiveness of technology in supplementing traditional classroom instruction.
- The integration of tutoring and mentoring within a digital learning environment.
- Addressing the challenges of learning in a second language.
Chapter Summaries
Chapter One: Background of the Study: This chapter introduces the concept of e-learning and its historical context, emphasizing the significance of using a student's mother tongue in education. It highlights the challenges faced by students learning in a language other than their native tongue, particularly in subjects like mathematics and physics. The chapter establishes the project's aim to develop a Hausa-language tutoring platform for senior secondary school students, outlining the platform's features and objectives, including addressing the limitations of learning in a second language and providing access to supplementary learning materials and mentoring.
Chapter Two: Literature Review and Related Work: This chapter delves into existing literature on e-learning systems and the benefits of mother tongue-based education. It explores related work in the field, examining previous studies and research on similar platforms or initiatives. The chapter conducts a comprehensive literature review, synthesizing existing knowledge about e-learning, mother tongue instruction, and their combined effects on student learning and academic performance. This section likely explores various methodologies, success metrics, and potential challenges associated with implementing mother tongue-based e-learning systems.
Chapter Three: Research Methodology and System Design: This chapter details the research methodology employed in the project, likely focusing on an Agile SDLC model. It describes the design of the proposed e-learning platform, including its features and functionalities, such as the incorporation of audio, video, and text materials in Hausa. This chapter compares the existing system (traditional teaching) with the proposed new system, highlighting improvements in efficiency, accessibility, and learning outcomes. Detailed explanations of the parameters used in the system design and a description of the tutoring and mentoring system will likely be included.
